Southern Guilford High School proudly announces Mrs. Jessie Raeford as our Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Raeford teaches Art I-IV and AP Studio Art at Southern and is a vital leader in her department and our school. The person that nominated her described her as a "walking ray of sunshine." Assistant Principal, Mr. Lopez announced the winner during a recent staff meeting and presented Mrs. Raeford with a beautiful vase of flowers. "Ms. Raeford has worked at Southern Guilford for 17 years. Ms. Raeford is not only an art teacher but also the cultural art department head, chairwoman of the school-based leadership team, and has helped decorate our school with art murals. She makes every student who has had her feel understood and valued. Her art room is a comforting space. She lightens up the boring task of teachers with a little fun of her own. Whether that is dressing up as a judge or coloring pages of faculty faces, she aims to have fun while she works."
