Remote Learning

Dear Southern Guilford Families,

As we prepare for potential Remote Learning Days due to inclement weather or other circumstances, we want to share our plan and expectations with you.

Daily Schedule: On Remote Learning Days, students will follow the regular daily class schedule unless otherwise noted. This consistency ensures that students stay engaged and connected with their teachers and peers throughout the day.

SGHS Regular Daily Bell Schedule:

9:20 – 10:56 1st Block

11:00 – 1:00 2nd Block

10:56 – 11:20 1st Lunch

11:25 – 11:50 2nd Lunch

12:05 – 12:30 3rd Lunch

12:35 – 1:00 4th Lunch

1:04 – 2:40 3rd Block

2:44 – 4:20 4th Block

Live Instruction:

Teachers will provide LIVE instruction during each class period to support learning, answer questions, and conduct regular check-ins. Students have already been shown how to log in to access these live sessions and should be familiar with the process. If there are any issues, teachers are available to assist.

Student Expectations (as outlined in the Remote Simulation Day Protocol):

• Log in on time to each class using the regular daily schedule.

• Participate actively during live instruction, including responding to questions, completing assignments, and engaging in discussions.

• Cameras should remain on when required, and students should follow school behavior and dress code expectations.

• Attendance will be taken each period. Students must attend the full session to be counted present.

• Assignments are due according to teacher instructions. Missing work will follow regular school policies.

Additional Information:

• Students enrolled in courses through GTCC or NCVPS should continue attending their classes as scheduled. Our plan ensures no conflicts with these programs.

• Teachers will communicate any additional instructions via Canvas and email.

We appreciate your support in ensuring a smooth and productive learning experience during Remote Learning Days.

Sincerely,

Rodney L. Boone, Ed.D.
