Career and Technical Education

Why Career and Technical Education
CTE prepares all students for high skill, high wage, or in-demand careers. The experience begins with career inspiration in pre-k, awareness in elementary school, exploration in middle school, and preparation in high school. CTE equips students for post-secondary education and immediate employment opportunities to compete worldwide successfully.

What Is NC Career & College Promise?

  1. College Transfer Pathway leading to college transfer credit

  2. Career and Technical Education Pathway leading to a certificate, diploma or degree

  3. Cooperative Innovative High School Pathway (Early and Middle College programs)

Industry Recognized Credentials for Students

There are benefits for students who have attained a credential. They have a documented skill set, are more marketable in the employment arena, and are better prepared to succeed in a post-secondary environment. Credentialing offers students authentic evidence of skill attainment that is relevant to careers and continuing education.

CTE programs are major contributors to Guilford County's supply of skilled workers for local businesses. Business and industry normally consider external credentialing a reliable "predictor of success" for entry-level employment. Labor pools with specific technical skills along with foundational and transferrable skills attract business to locate and operate in our region.
